Yesterday we watched "Seven Years in Tibet" and my wife wrote a paper about the themes and about Buddhism in general. I am really getting to think about Buddhism and it is making me a little bit wiser.
We went to meet a lady from Topeka yesterday, we met her halfway at the Manhattan exit. The junction of I-70 and Hwy 177. There is a gas station there and nothing else. The gas station is closed because they have the old mechanical pumps that can only go up to a dollar nintey-nine. I remember hearing news stories of gas stations that were having to close this year when gas went over two dollars. We got there early, and sat there for about 45 minutes as car after car pulled in and realized the place was closed, people who needed to pee, needed gas, otherwise wanted to buy something to drink, etc. All turned away by a recently closed gas station that has a great location. Just about every minute, two or three more cars would pull in, people would park, get out, disregard the large sign "closed" and pull on the door, some got out and tried to pump gas. It was a little amusing to watch people as they realized what they were doing wasn't going to work. Everybody was a little dumbfounded by the fact that there were three other cars and people parked and trying to do business with a closed gas station with a good location.
